How It Happened

  • Neither team found the back of the net again throughout the first period with both teams even at five shots.
  • The Beavers scored two of their own in opening seconds of the second and third periods. Although, the Falcons found the equalizer ,33 seconds later, from senior Owen Ozar. After the initial shot was saved by the Bemidji goaltender, Ozar batted the puck out of mid-air on the rebound over the top of the goaltender to tie the game at 2-2.
  • The Falcons took the lead after junior Jaden Grant won the offensive face-off back to sophomore Gustav Stjernberg. Stjernberg took a slapshot from the point that beat the goaltender to give the Falcons their second lead of the night.
  • In the waning seconds of the third period, the Beavers found the equalizer with a 6 on 5 extra skater goal to force overtime.
  • At 2:37 in the overtime period, senior Ryan O’Hara found a wide-open net to give the Falcons the victory. O’Hara brought the puck into the zone and passed it to Grant before going across the ice. The two BG players spread the Bemidji defenders out passing back and forth before O’Hara netted a wide-open goal past a sprawling Bemidji State goaltender.
