The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for January 10-11 and four student-athletes from four different programs have been recognized. Liam Malmquist (St. Thomas) garnered Forward of the Week honors, while Gustav Stjernberg (Bowling Green) was the league’s Defenseman of the Week. Rorke Applebee (Lake Superior State) was the Goaltender of the Week and Ryan Duguay (Northern Michigan) picked up Rookie of the Week.

CCHA Forward of the Week: Liam Malmquist, Sr., St. Thomas (Edina, Minn.)
Malmquist recorded four goals and one assist for five points last week, leading St. Thomas to a home sweep of Ferris State. Posting a +2 rating, he had two power-play goals and 10 shots in the series. On Friday, he recorded the second hat trick in Tommies Division I history, en route to a 9-6 victory. he then had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 come-from-behind win on Saturday night.
CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Gustav Stjernberg, So., Bowling Green (Enebyberg, Sweden)
Stjernberg had a goal and three assists last week, helping Bowling Green to a three-point weekend against Bemidji State. Registering a league-best +4 rating, he had nine shots on goal and two blocks at the defensive end of the ice. On Friday night, he recorded a goal and two assists in a 4-3 overtime victory over the Beavers. He then dished out one assist in a 4-4 tie on Saturday.
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Rorke Applebee, Fr., Lake Superior State (Chateauguay, Que.)
Applebee paced two-start CCHA netminders in goals-against average (1.51), save percentage (.957) and total saves (67) last weekend, helping Lake Superior State to a road split against Michigan Tech. On Friday, he made 37 saves in a 4-2 Lakers win, before turning away 30-of-31 shots in a 1-0 loss on Saturday.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Ryan Duguay, Fr., Northern Michigan (Edmonton, Alb.)
Duguay broke out for four goals this weekend, leading Northern Michigan to a home split with No. 12 Minnesota State. Posting a +1 rating, he had two power-play goals and one game-winner, netting a hat trick in a 3-2 Wildcats victory on Friday night. He added a fourth goal on Saturday night. For the week, he had six shots on goal and one block at the defensive end.
