Both the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears start their week two matchup winless and looking poorly. The Packers blew out Dan Campbell’s squad in week one and the Bears fared no better against NFC North foe Minnesota. The Lions needed a much different football game than the one in Green Bay where Detroit was outplayed and manhandled.
To the Gridiron: Forward down the field…
Razzle Dazzle

The Lions ran plenty of misdirection plays and play-action plays that had several options and kept the Bears on their heels all day. Ben Johnson must have realized that Detroit still plans to play with the moxie he instilled as the offensive coordinator and hopes his team will do the same in time. Chicago showed flashes of it. Score: TD

Five different Lions players score
Amon-Ra St. Brown scored three TD’s and five players overall went into the endzone. Brock Wright, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta all made the scoresheet. Gibbs ran for 94 yards on 12 carries and Detroit ran for 177 yards as a team in 30 carries and the team was killing the clock after they got to 52 points.
Jared Goff was like PlayStation out there

Goff was inconsistent in the first quarter after the Lions scored their first touchdown. He went 15-15 in the third quarter and his 5 TD passes to three different receivers kept the Bears off balance. His favorite target was St. Brown who had nine grabs for 115 yards and three TD’s. Jameson Williams was Goff’s big target. Two catches for 108 yards gave Goff a second wide out to look at. Goff and the Lions still must find a way to get Williams the ball more often.
Defensive Stats
Four sacks by Detroit including three by defensive lineman are certainly an improvement. Detroit had four QB hits and five tackles for loss. (TFL) The Lions secondary needs to button it down. Rome Odunze had a big day 7/128 and two scores and seven different Bears catching passes shows Detroit needs to improve. Still, Detroit let the Bears move the ball late in the game so they could end it for ChiTown.

Key Team Stats
The Bears had eight penalties to the Lions 3. That is a win.
The Lions O outgained the Bears 511 to 339.
The Lions win the turnover battle 2-0.
