Two-Minute Drill

• Western Michigan captured the 2025 MAC Football title as the Broncos defeated Miami, 23-13, on Dec. 6 at Ford Field. Jalen Buckley had touchdown runs of 67 and 64 yards and finished with 193 yards on 19 carries for the Broncos. Broc Lowry had 111 yards passing and 65 yards rushing as Western Michigan gained 397 yards, highlighted by 286 yards on the ground. 

• Five MAC institutions accepted bowl bids for the 2025 bowl season. Western Michigan (Myrtle Beach Bowl), Toledo (Bush’s Boca Raton Bowl of Beans), Ohio (Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl), Central Michigan (GameAbove Sports Bowl) and Miami (Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl) will represent the MAC in bowl games this season. This marks the 16th time in MAC history that five or more programs have received bowl invitations in a single season. 

• The Mid-American Conference announced the All-MAC Teams and Specialty Award selections for the 2025 football season on Dec. 4. Western Michigan defensive end Nadame Tucker was tabbed the winner of the 44th Vern Smith Leadership Award as the top player in the MAC, as well as the Defensive Player of the Year. WMU’s Lance Taylor was selected as Head Coach of the Year, while Broncos quarterback Broc Lowry was tabbed as Offensive Player of the Year. Kent State kick returner Da’Realyst Clark was selected as Special Teams Player of the Year, while Bowling Green running back/kick returner Cameron Pettaway earned Freshman of the Year honors, rounding out the specialty award selections. 

• Mike Jacobs was officially introduced as the head football coach at the University of Toledo on Dec. 12, becoming the 28th head coach in the 109-year history of the Rocket football program.
