Stramel, Augustine and Romani lead Spartans to Great Lakes Invitational title

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for ice hockey games played December 28-29, 2025.
First Star
Charlie Stramel, Michigan State
Sr. – F – Rosemount, Minn. — Wisconsin (NCAA)
2023 NHL Draft: 1st Rd, 21st overall, Minnesota Wild
- Named Most Valuable Player of the 2025 Great Lakes Invitational, helping the Spartans defend their tournament title
- Scored back-to-back game winning goals against Ferris State and Michigan Tech
- Recorded four goals (five points total), won 60.5 percent of his faceoffs (26-for-43), and logged a plus-five rating
- Earns his fifth career Star honor (1-First Star, 1-Second Star, 3-Third Stars)
- Last Spartan named First Star: Trey Augustine on Nov. 18, 2025
Second Star
Trey Augustine, Michigan State

2023 NHL Draft: 2nd Rd, 41st overall, Detroit Red Wings
- Named to the Great Lakes Invitational All-Tournament Team
- Backstopped the No. 3/3 Spartans to their 14th GLI crown and second in a row
- Turned away 53-of-56 shots for a .946 save percentage and a 1.50 goals-against average
- Held Michigan Tech to one goal on 33 shots in the championship game
- Receives his eighth career Star Award (4-First Stars, 4-Second Stars)
Third Star
Anthony Romani, Michigan State
Fr. – F – Pickering, Ontario – Barrie (OHL)
2024 NHL Draft: 6th Rd, 162nd overall, Vancouver Canucks
- Chosen to the Great Lakes Invitational All-Tournament Team
- Finished the GLI with two goals, two assists, and six shots on goal while averaging 20:48 of ice time
- The first year forward ranks fourth in team scoring with 14 points (7g-7a) in 18 games
- Collects his first Star of the Week accolade
- Marks the first time a Big Ten team has swept the weekly awards since Ohio State on Dec. 20, 2022
