ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for ice hockey games played January 9-10, 2026.
First Star
Nick Moldenhauer, Michigan
Jr. – F – Mississauga, Ontario – Chicago (USHL)
2022 NHL Draft: 3rd Rd, 95th overall, Toronto Maple Leafs
- Helped No. 1/1 Michigan to a weekend sweep of Notre Dame in Ann Arbor, Mich.
- Recorded four points (two goals, two assists), six shots, three blocked shots, and a plus-four rating
- Scored the game-winning goal late in the second period of Saturday’s 7-4 victory
- The Academic All-Big Ten recipient claims his first Star honor
- Becomes the fifth Wolverine to capture a Star Award this season
Second Star
Porter Martone, Michigan State

2025 NHL Draft: 1st Rd, 6th overall, Philadelphia Flyers
- Posted a Big Ten-best three goals and five points on the weekend
- Scored on 42.9 percentage of his shots placed on goal
- Turned in a four-point performance with two goals and two assists in Michigan State’s 6-2 win over Ohio State Friday evening
- Leads the Spartans in goals (14) and ranks second in scoring (25 points)
- Earns his second Big Ten weekly award of the season, having been named Third Star on Nov. 18, 2025
Third Star
Sam Hillebrandt, Ohio State
Fr. – G – Port Huron, Mich. – Barrie (OHL)
- Stopped 26 of 27 shots, including all 11 in the third period, in Ohio State’s 2-1 upset of No. 2/2 Michigan State on Saturday
- Came off the bench and played two periods on Friday, making 14 saves; allowed one even-strength goal and one power play tally against a team with a 3.50 scoring average
- Finished the weekend with a 1.80 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage
- The rookie netminder secures his first Star certificate
- Becomes first OSU freshman to capture a Star Award since Stephen Halliday on Feb. 7, 2023
