First weekly selections in 2026 as spring season gets started

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern’s Daniel Svärd has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week for tournaments from January 29 – February 5.

· Helped the Wildcats kick off the spring slate with a victory, defeating Michigan State to win the Gantner Cup for the third consecutive year
· Won his morning match 6&5 at the par-72, 7,375-yard Mountain Lake Country Club
· Followed up the morning foursome match victory with a decisive 4&3 win to seal the win for Northwestern
· Last Northwestern Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week honoree: Daniel Svärd (April 3, 2025)

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its women’s golf weekly awards for tournaments held Jan. 30-Feb. 4.
Golfer of the Week
Jenny Lee, UCLA
So. – Osan, South Korea – Baylor (NCAA)
- Helped UCLA to its first tournament title of the season at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge, held Feb. 1-3, at the Palos Verdes Golf Club
- The Bruins finished 11 strokes ahead of the 15-team field, which included six top-25 teams
- Lee tied for first by finishing at 5-under 208 before losing the individual medal on the second playoff hole
- Finished with a 208 score (69-69-70), matching a career-low for 54 holes
- Captures her second Big Ten Golfer of the Week Award, having previously been honored on Oct. 2, 2025
Freshman of the Week
Kacey Ly, UCLA
Fr. – Temple City, Calif. – Temple City HS
- Finished fourth out of 87 competitors at the 30th Annual Therese Hession Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estate, Calif.
- Carded a 3-under 210, producing the first sub-70 rounds of her Bruins career
- Registered scores of 74, 69 and 67 with her third-round effort being the team’s lowest 18-hole total of the tournament
- Competing in her fifth tournament of the season, Ly registered her first top-10 finish
- Becomes the first Bruin to receive the Big Ten Freshman of the Week Award, which is in its first year of existence
