Ohio State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame Take Home Weekly Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for ice hockey games played February 6-7, 2026.

First Star
Sam Hillebrandt
, Ohio State

Fr. – G – Port Huron, Mich. – Barrie (OHL)

  • Backstopped Ohio State to a pair of road wins at Minnesota, helping the Buckeyes clinch the season series
  • Stopped 47-of-50 shots for a .940 save percentage and a 1.50 goals-against average
  • Allowed one even-strength goal on the weekend and made a combined 21 saves in the third periods alone, preserving leads in both games
  • Earns a Star Award for the second time this season, was previously named Third Star on Jan. 13, 2026
  • Last Buckeye named Big Ten First Star: Damien Carfagna (Feb. 18, 2025)

Second Star

2024 NHL Draft: 4th Rd, 108th overall, Buffalo Sabres

  • Compiled four points (two goals, two assists) to lead Big Ten blueliners in scoring as No. 13/11 Wisconsin swept Notre Dame in Madison, Wis.
  • Scored two goals and assisted on the overtime game-winner in Friday’s 6-5 win
  • Ranks second nationally among freshmen defensemen in scoring with 19 points
  • Becomes the fourth defenseman to garner a Star Award in 2025-26
  • Last Badger to receive a Star Award: Quinn Finley (Third Star, Dec. 9, 2025)

Third Star
Evan Werner, Notre Dame

Jr. – F – Flower Mound, Texas – Michigan (NCAA)

  • Shared the NCAA lead with four goals as part of a five-point weekend for Notre Dame against No. 13/11 Wisconsin  
  • Completed a hat trick by scoring with 1:09 left in the third period to force overtime on Friday
  • Netted a first-period goal on Saturday to extend his points streak to six games
  • Collects the third weekly award of his career, having been named a First Star and a Third Star last season while at Michigan
  • Last Notre Dame player named a Star: Sutter Muzzatti (Third Star, Jan. 27, 2026)
