East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s men’s golf team finished in 11th place among 16 teams at the Windon Memorial, played at the par-70, 6.716-yard Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest, Ill. and will be hosted by Northwestern University.
The Spartans had entered Tuesday’s final round in second place but struggled in the final round with an 11-over par 291.
MSU finished in 11th place overall at 11-over par 851 (281-279-291).
Kansas topped the field at 4-under 836 (276-280-280), one shot ahead of second-place Washington (3-under par 837) and two ahead of Notre Dame, in third place at 1-under par 839. Host Northwestern placed fourth at 5-over par 845 while Charlotte and Indiana tied for fifth place at 6-over par 846.
Senior McCoy Biagioli was the top finisher for MSU, tying for 21st place at 1-over par 211 (69-68-74).
Seniors Lorenzo Pinili (72-68-72) and Lucas Acevedo (69-71-72) tied for 30th place with scores of 2-over par 212, respectively.
Junior Julian Menser (71-72-78) and sophomore Luke Mueller (72-76-73) tied for 68th place with scores of 11-over par 221.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Connor Fox tied for 78th place at 14-over par 224 (73-76-75).
Michigan State plays next in the Fighting Irish Classic at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. from Sunday, Oct. 4 to Monday, Oct. 5.
Indiana Men finish T-5th at Windon
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Indiana men’s golf team shot an 846 (273-291-282; +6) to tie for fifth at the Windon Memorial Classic at the Onwentsia Club on Tuesday.

• Second-year Jake Cesare finished as the low-scoring Hoosier for the second-consecutive tournament. He shot a 209 (66-71-72; -1) with birdies on 10 holes. His first-round 66 (-4) marked the lowest single-round score for an Indiana men’s golfer this season.
• Fourth-year Nick Piesen climbed up the individual standings after a strong final round to finish at 213 (71-73-69; +3). He ended the tournament with nine birdies.
• Fourth-year Cole Starnes compiled a score of 215 (69-73-73; +5) in his return to the Indiana lineup. He played six birdies.
• Third-year Jamison Ousley performed best in the final round and shot a 216 (74-74-68; +6). Six of his nine birdie conversions came in Tuesday’s round.
• Third-year Bradley Chill Jr. shot a 218 (67-77-74; +8) with eight birdies.
• Fourth-year Alec Cesare, who played as an individual, turned in his scorecard at 231 (76-75-80; +21).

Naik Leads Wolverines Men to Tie for 11th at Bryan Bros Collegiate << UMGolf
Michigan closed the Bryan Bros Collegiate with its best round of the tournament, firing a 288 (+4) to climb three spots and tie for 11th at 873.
» For the second time this season, Nilay Naik paced the Wolverines, tying for 26th at 214 (+1) with rounds of 70-72-72. After falling to four over through three holes in the final round, he played his last 15 holes three under.
» RJ Arone closed with a 70 (-1), highlighted by three straight birdies to open his back nine and a three-under 34 coming home. He tied for 46th at 218.

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — Behind a steady three rounds from Nilay Naik and a strong final-round push, the University of Michigan men’s golf team closed the Bryan Bros Collegiate tied for 11th on Tuesday (Sept. 29) at Solina Golf Club. The Wolverines posted their best round of the tournament with a 288 (+4) to finish with an 873 54-hole total.
After a weekend away from competition, Michigan returned for the fourth of its seven fall events. Naik opened with a 70 (-1), while RJ Arone added a 72 (+1) as the Wolverines posted a first-round 290 and positioned themselves 12th. U-M headed back out for its second round, but darkness halted play with three to four holes remaining.
Back on the course Tuesday morning, Michigan completed its second round with a 295 and found itself 14th with 18 holes remaining. The Wolverines responded with their best round of the tournament. Arone fired a 70 (-1), Spencer Shropshire added an even-par 71 and Naik posted his second straight 72 (+1), helping U-M card a 288 (+4) and climb three spots into a tie for 11th at 873 (+21).
In a unique twist to the fall season, the Wolverines will travel alongside the U-M women’s golf team to Dublin, Ohio, for the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 5-6). Hosted by Ohio State at famed Muirfield Village Golf Club, the four-team match-play event gives each program three matches, with the best overall record claiming the Nicklaus Cup. Michigan and Ohio State will be joined by Charlotte and Clemson.
