Ohio State finished with 21.5 points, four points ahead of Charlotte and Clemson in 2nd place UM 4th

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s golf teams combined to capture the Barbara Nicklaus Cup title this week at the prestigious Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
Scoreboard
The Buckeyes finished with 21.5 combined points over the three matches. Charlotte and Clemson tied for second with 17.5 points and Michigan finished fourth with 15.5 points.
On Tuesday, the women’s team defeated Clemson 4.5-1.5 while the men’s team fell to Clemson by the same score. Both teams beat Michigan on Monday afternoon and split with Charlotte on Monday morning. Each team played six head-to-head matches against the three schools and the combined scores from those matches counted towards the overall winner.
The women’s team claimed a total of 13 of the possible 18 points over the three matches.
Sophomore Sophie Eppelstun was in great form over the two days, winning all of her matches, including a 4&3 victory today over Clemson’s Sarah Uebelhart. Mandy Song also won all three of her matches this week, beating Napajira Luesattha 3&2 today. Song never made it past the 16th hole in any of her matches.
Junior Nellie Ong was the third Buckeye to go 3-0 this week as she capped her event with a hard-fought 2-up win over Clemson’s Ivy Schulze.
Freshman Amalie Tauer capped her event in style with a solid 4&2 win over Annika Kohoutek. She went 2-1 over the three matches. Matilde Santilli halved her match with Keya Naik on Tuesday, keeping her unblemished for the week with a win and two halves.
On the men’s side, junior Vaughn Harber was a perfect 3-0 as he capped his event with a 3&2 victory over Gabriel Holtz. After a slow start in the cool temperatures, Harber heated up and played his final 11 holes at 3-under par to secure the win.
Timotej Formanek was 2-down midway through the back nine but won the par-4 14th and then made birdie on the par-4 17th to send the match to the final hole. There he made a great up-and-down from the greenside bunker to halve his match with Daniel McBrien to secure a the half point.
The men will return to action on Oct. 17 when they travel to Saucier, Miss., to join a strong field at the Fallen Oak Collegiate. The women will play next Monday and Tuesday at the Haskins Women’s Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ga.
