AJGA Golf: Plenty of juniors in contention at Spring Meadows CC |

Plenty of locals among the leaders for boys and girls- Interviews with Parker Stalcup and Connor Fox Below

The Randy Wise AJGA junior golf tournament proved to be a tough test of golf for junior players looking to play in the college golf ranks. A near perfect day with temps in the mid-70’s allowed players to go for pins but tricky greens and a tough tree line made this a wide open tournament.

Boys

David Krusinski of Highland and Dylan Kringen of Long Lake, Minnesota are the co-leaders with 23 players within seven shots of the lead. Krusinski had seven birdies on the round with a double bogey on the ninth being his only blemish. Kringen earned an eagle on the 511-yard par 5 11th hole.

Peter Roehl of Rochester Hills, Mi. is only one shot back. Five birdies and two bogeys leave him in good shape. Connor Fox of Lake Orion, Michigan is a recent Michigan Jr. Amateur winner and he started off with a sizzling five birdies in seven holes before playing four over the rest of the round for a 71. Fox is a Michigan State golf commit for head coach Casey Lubahn starting in 2025. (His interview is below).

Girls

Zimeng Zhang of China leads the girls with a three under par 69 with a solid five birdies. Zhang’s two shot lead puts her ahead of both Celina Yeo of London, Ontario and Maggie Carlson of Inverness, Illinois. Carlson had a wild ride of 3 birdies, four bogeys and an eagle three on the par five 15th. In all, 17 girls are within seven shots of Zhang’s two shot lead.
