The Skinny Going into Michigan
Usually, we combine They Said it with our fantasy picks, but with two MIS They Said It’s (One on Austin Dillon and the other anything but,) this is a stand alone column.
With three races left before the playoffs commence, twelve drivers have locked up the playoffs. Martin Truex Jr. is a lock to make it on points alone to make 13. The Austin Dillon win was eliminated after the crash to Logano and Hamlin. With Ford having a nine race win streak at Michigan, their drivers are on the fantasy shortlist this week. This week, we look for the drivers to play in fantasy and need to make the playoffs.
NASCAR Points going into Michigan
Who to Play
In my discussion with Dustin Long of NBC and Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, neither picked a Ford driver. I will.
Practice and Qualifying wiped out
Denny Hamlin will sit on the pole as predetermined by NASCAR.
The Picks
My usual source to determine Fantasy Picks is down so I used prior and active MIS Winners.
- Joey Logano has won at MIS three times in his career. He is angry after Richmond and an angry Joey should be a factor.
2. Denny Hamlin runs well at MIS with multiple race wins. Hamlin, like Logano was wrecked on the last lap for a potential win in Richmond. He will be in the mix today.
3. Ryan Blaney has won one race at MIS. He is usually in contention and is a solid pick for the race.
4. Kyle Larson won this race three straight times in 2016 and 2017. He has four race wins on the season and will be in the final pack of cars.
5. Chris Buescher is the defending winner of this race and drives for Ford Performance. He is not hot driving right now.
Darkhorse
Ty Gibbs- Gibbs looked like a first time winner several times earlier this season. He has cooled off but needs a win and is 18 points above the cut line.
Bubba Wallace sits three points above the cut line and runs well at Michigan.
Forget about it…
Erik Jones- Jones does not run well at Michigan. Put the track in Byron, Michigan maybe.

ALL PICKS ARE SUBJECT TO HAVING THE DRIVERS FOR OPTIONS AND PICK AVAILABILITY. There are ten picks for the regular season.
