The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for October 11-12 and four student-athletes from three different programs have been recognized. Carter Randklev (Bemidji State) was the conference’s Forward of the Week, while Mason Poolman (St. Thomas) collected Defenseman of the Week honors. Max Vayrynen (Michigan Tech) and Elias Jansson (Michigan Tech) earned Goaltender and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

CCHA Forward of the Week: Carter Randklev, Gr., Bemidji State (Moorhead, Minn.) 

Randklev paced all CCHA forwards in goals (2) and points (3) last week, posting a +2 rating in a pair of games against nationally ranked St. Cloud State. He tallied twice on four shots in a 4-3 loss in St. Cloud on Friday, before setting up the Beavers’ second tally in a 3-2 defeat on Saturday. The grad transfer has at least one point in every game for Bemidji State.

CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Mason Poolman, So., St. Thomas (East Grand Forks, Minn.)

Poolman eclipsed his season goal total from a season ago in just one weekend, leading the Tommies to a tie and a win against Vermont. Posting a CCHA-best four points (3 goals, 1 assist), he was a +3 with one game-winning goal to his credit. He had a career-high three points on Friday night in a come-from-behind 5-5 tie, before netting the eventual game-winner in a 3-1 victory over the Catamounts on Saturday. For the week, he had six shots on goal and one block at the defensive end.

CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Max Vayrynen Jr., Michigan Tech (Espoo, Finland)

Vayrynen went 2-0-0 with a CCHA-best 0.98 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage, helping Michigan Tech to a sweep of Alaska over the weekend. Playing 123:01 minutes, he stopped 44-of-46 shots, including all four that he faced while the Huskies were shorthanded. On Saturday, he stopped the final 22 Nanooks shots on goal for a total of 29 in the contest.

CCHA Rookie of the Week: Elias Jansson, Fr., Michigan Tech (Oulu, Finland) 

Jansson scored the overtime-winning goal on Friday night in Michigan Tech’s 2-1 victory over Alaska. For the weekend, he was even with six shots on goal, which was the second-most on the team.
