MSU Blanks Windsor, 5-0 In Exhibition

East Lansing, Mich.  –  No. 4 Michigan State exploded for three third-period goals and earned a 5-0 shutout win over Windsor in exhibition action at Munn Ice Arena on Friday. 

The Spartans were held in check by impressive play from Windsor starting goalie Nathan Torchia, who made 30 saves over the first 40 minutes.  MSU scored just once in each of the first two periods but put three on the board against backup goalie Max Donoso, who had nine third-period stops. 

Trey Augustine started and made four first-period saves before making way for Luca Di Pasquo, who stopped nine shots over 40 minuts and withstood a five-minute major penalty against in the third period. 

Matt Basgall had a goal and two assists for the home team, and Daniel Russell had a pair of scores – one shorthanded.  Tanner Kelly and Tiernan Shoudy (shorthanded) also had goals for MSU, while Joey Larson had a pair of helpers. 


The Spartans head back out on the road next weekend for a two-game set at Canisius.  Gametimes in Buffalo are 7 pm each evening.
