Non conference matchup of Lake Superior State at undefeated Ohio State in Columbus

A full slate of conference action gets underway this weekend, with four series between CCHA programs. Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan renew their rivalry for the first time in regular season play, while No. 16 Minnesota State heads to Bemidji State in a matchup of the last two MacNaughton Cup Champions. Bowling Green welcomes Ferris State to town and St. Thomas looks to get even with Augustana at home.

Fresh off a split of their CCHA-opening series against Bemidji State, the Bulldogs head to “The Slate” for a matchup with Bowling Green. The Falcons dropped a pair of tight games to No. 15 Ohio State last week and own a 48-32-6 record against Ferris State at home in the all-time series. This weekend marks the 164th and 165th meetings between the two programs.

The Mavericks visit Bemidji State for an early heavyweight bout in the CCHA. The Beavers are off to a 1-1 start in the league, splitting at Ferris State last week. Minnesota State has four ranked wins under its belt, sweeping nationally-ranked Omaha at home last weekend. The Beavers ended MSU’s run of MacNaughton Cup supremacy last year, which adds to the in-state rivalry.

Upper Peninsula rivals Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech get the weekend series underway in Marquette on Friday night, before things turn to Houghton on Saturday. The Huskies are 82-81-15 in the all-time series, which dates back to 1979. Tech claimed an exhibition 4-3 win on opening weekend.

The Lakers visit undefeated Ohio State for a two-game set this weekend, before getting their conference schedule underway next week at Northern Michigan. Lake Superior State leads the all-time series against their old CCHA foe, 74-60-11, which dates back to 1969.
