Sometimes, the quotes from the players and coaches are as good as the game. Well… almost.

Dan Campbell on the Jameson Williams team apology

Lions head coach Dan Campbell said the misstep was “already cleaned up” by the time he left the locker room, saying that Williams volunteered an apology in front of the whole team.

“It’s already cleaned up, so we’re good,” Campbell said. “As a matter of fact, Jamo got right in front of the team a minute ago, unsolicited, and wanted to apologize to his teammates. That’s big, that’s growth. So, all good.”

Jared Goff echo’s Campbell’s sentiments

Lions quarterback Jared Goff echoed Campbell’s comments, saying Williams’ apology was “huge.”

“He’s right where he needs to be, he’s doing a good job,” Goff said. “I know that was a mistake by him, but I’m proud of him, the way he handled it, the way he stood up and took responsibility. We’ll move on, there’s no problems there.”

Alim McNeil on Lions Injuries

“It’s wild for everybody,” said McNeill, the Lions’ dominant defensive tackle. “But it’s part of this sport sometimes. … I do wish a speedy recovery for everybody, but when it happens, it’s just part of the game. It sucks, though.”

McNeil on the final play of the game

“When I saw the clock at zero, man, I didn’t know what happened, actually,” McNeill said, laughing. “I had no clue what happened. And then I realized the game was over.”

Bears Coach Matt Eberflus

Sometimes you just want to be fired. Chicago was in field goal range and playing with house money trying to beat the 10-1 Lions outright. Instead, Chicago turned a possible victory into the jaws of defeat. When you have a timeout to bring in a kicker and do not use it, its criminal. He was on thin ice with the team when the Bears management brought him back for 2024. With his team on a five game losing streak, its dead man walking for Eberflus.

We’re at 36 seconds right there and our hope was, because it was third [down] going into fourth [down], that we would rerack that play at 18 seconds, throw it inbounds, get it in field goal range and then call a timeout,” Eberflus said.

If I was Eberflus, I would caution him against eating team meals alone.
