East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s women’s golf team shot a 5-over par 293 in the final round finished in second place among 18 teams at the Big Ten Championship, held at Bulle Rock Golf Course (par 72, 6,325 yards) in Havre de Grace, Md.

MSU Final Day

The Spartans had fired a tournament-best 7-under par 281 in Saturday’s second round to take a three-shot lead heading into the final round but Oregon carded a 12-under par 276 on Sunday to pull away for the team title.
The Ducks, ranked No. 5 nationally, finished atop the field at 12-under par 852 (286-290-276), with the Spartans in second place at 2-over par 866 (292-281-293). Illinois finished in third place at 6-over par 870, Ohio State was fourth at 9-over par 873 and Northwestern rounded out the top-five teams at 10-over par 874.
Senior Brooke Biermann led the Spartans, finishing in fourth place at 3-under par 213 (72-69-72). Biermann had a strong back nine with three birdies, including back-to-back on the 14th and 15th holes, to move into a tie for second place before a bogey on 18.
Junior Taylor Kehoe tied for 10th place at even-par 216 (72-71-73). Kehoe had seven birdies in the final round, including five on the back nine.
Senior Katie Lu posted her second-straight round of 1-over par 73 on Sunday and tied for 15th place at 2-over par 218 (72-73-73).
Junior Paula Balanzategui closed with a 3-over par 75 in the third round and tied for 40th place at 8-over par 224 (76-73-75).
Sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia struggled in the final round with a 9-over par 81 and tied for 57th place at 11-over par 227 (78-68-81).
Michigan Women take 8th- await the NCAA Selection Show

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — With top-20 finishes from junior Lauren Sung (T-12th) and redshirt-sophomore Mara Janess (T-19th), the University of Michigan women’s golf team used a closing 290 final-round tally today (Sunday, April 20) to move up for a second straight day and finish eighth with an 882 total at the Big Ten Championships, played at the Bulle Rock Golf Course.
Entering the conference championship as the 12th seed, junior Sydney Sung paced the Maize and Blue early Friday (April 18), as her 71 (-1), along with Janess’ 74 (+2), guided U-M to an opening 298 team total, placing the Wolverines 10th.
The following day, Lauren Sung bounced back from her opening 78 by carding a 69 (-3) in the second round. Combined with a 73 (+1) from Sydney Sung and another 74 (+2) from Janess, Michigan improved and moved into a tie for ninth with a 592 (298-294) total after 36 holes.
In Easter Sunday’s final round, Lauren Sung tallied a second straight sub-par score (70, -2), while Janess added a 71 (-1) and freshman Thomasine Bartholdson contributed an even-par 72. The Wolverines carded the second-lowest closing round (290) of the day to move up one more spot and finish eighth with an 882 total.
With her closing efforts, Lauren Sung tied for 12th at 217 (+1; 78-69-70), leading the Wolverines with her fifth top-20 finish of the season. Janess followed closely behind in a tie for 19th at 219 (74-74-71), while Sydney Sung rounded out U-M’s top three with a tie for 28th at 221 (71-73-77).
