College Hockey: CCHA News and Preview for 12.13-12.14

Three CCHA series get underway on Friday, closing out the first half of the 2024-25 season. Bowling Green hosts Northern Michigan for a pair, while No. 12 Minnesota State welcomes Lake Superior State to town and Michigan Tech visits Bemidji State.

In non-league action, Augustana concludes its Alaska trip against Anchorage on Thursday and Friday night.

The Vikings, who saw their four-game winning streak snapped last Saturday in Fairbanks, look to start a new streak on Thursday night, when they open a two-game series at Alaska Anchorage. The two teams split their inaugural meeting last season at Midco Arena with the Seawolves winning 6-5 in overtime, before Augie claimed a 3-0 shutout the following night.

Two teams batting for home ice in the CCHA meet this weekend in Bemidji, when the Huskies visit the Beavers at Sandford Center. Tech holds a 24-22-9 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to 2007. Michigan Tech split with St. Thomas at home last weekend, while Bemidji State also shared the spoils at Lake Superior State last time out.

The Lakers are coming off a split with Bemidji State, while the Mavericks took 5-of-6 points for their series with Bowling Green. Minnesota State owns a 32-5-2 lead in the all-time series.

PREVIEW: Huskies head to Bemidji State

WEEKEND SERIES
• Michigan Tech travels to Bemidji State for the final CCHA series of 2024.
• The puck drops at 8:07 p.m. Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday at the Sanford Center.
• Tech is 8-5-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the CCHA.
• Bemidji State is 8-7-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the CCHA.
• The teams will meet in Houghton on Winter Carnival weekend (Feb. 7-8).

• Stiven Sardarian is second in the CCHA with seven goals. He also has six assists for 13 points. He ranks seventh in the nation with three game-winning goals.
• Kasper Vaharautio leads the team with 37 blocked shots to rank second in the CCHA and 7th in the nation.
