College Hockey: CCHA Players-of-the-Week

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for October 4-6 and four student-athletes from four different programs have been recognized. Brett Pfoh (Bowling Green) was selected as the Forward of the Week, while Trevor Taulien (Ferris State) earned Defenseman of the Week honors. Raythan Robbins (Bemidji State) backstopped his way to Goaltender of the Week and Luke Ashton (Minnesota State) was the Rookie of the Week.

CCHA Forward of the Week: Brett Pfoh, Jr., Bowling Green (Port Moody, B.C.) 

Pfoh led Bowling Green to a 2-0 week, scoring a pair of goals, including the overtime-winner on Saturday, in a 5-4 Falcons victory at Mercyhurst. He got the scoring started midway through the first period, before capping the night with his 13th career tally. The outing was the second two-goal game of his BGSU career and he finished the weekend at +1 with three shots on goal. 

CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Trevor Taulien, So., Ferris State (Cleveland, Wisc.) 

Taulien turned the first two-goal game and second multi-point game of his collegiate career on Saturday, helping Ferris State to the second of two come-from-behind ties against Miami (OH). He led all CCHA defenseman in goals (2), plus-minus (+3) and blocked shots (8), while registering four shots on goal. 

CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Raythan Robbins, So., Bemidji State (Anchorage, Alaska) 

Robbins stopped 11 of the 12 shots he faced in the third period and overtime on Saturday, to help Bemidji State to a 4-3 victory over then-No. 18 Minnesota Duluth. Entering the game midway through the third period as an injury replacement, he stopped six shots in regulation and all five in overtime to secure a 1-0 start for the Beavers. The victory was the first of his collegiate career. 

CCHA Rookie of the Week: Luke Ashton, Fr., Minnesota State (North Vancouver, B.C.) 

Ashton paced all CCHA rookies with two points last week, scoring his first collegiate goal and assisting on another in a 5-2 victory at then-No. 7 Michigan on Friday. Posting a league-best +3 on the weekend, he had seven shots on goal and blocked four at the defensive end of the ice.
