Louis Foster captured his first pole of the 2024 NXT Indy Car season and led all 45 of the race on the very bumpy and slippery Detroit Grand Prix Track. Passing is at a premium at the street course located in the shadows of the Detroit Renaissance Center with only a couple of corners in play to pass. Foster turned his pole position into a Grand Prix victory leading all 45 of the 50 scheduled laps for his second victory of the season.

Also, Foster was described above but the biggest takeaway for him is his ascent up the standings from third to second. Foster was aware that he would pick up points on his biggest competition. “It didn’t change the way I drove. I think more or less the fact that it was Caio behind me rather than Jacob. If Caio had gone for something, I would have been more inclined to let him go in a way, if that makes sense, because I was still going to get on those two. Saying that, I think Caio is going to be the guy to beat for the rest of the year. That race he was very fast. I expect him to be up there a lot more against me, Jacob and Nolan” . Foster scored 23 more points than series leader Jacob Abel (54-31). He still trails by 39 points going to Elkhart, Wisconsin next weekend.

The Best of 13 NXT Rookies

Caio Collet has the best finish of the 13 rookies of 21 starters in the race. Starting with a position of fourth, Collet used the limited ability of drivers to pass to improve his position from fourth to second. Collet has collected two straight podium finishes. Keeping it clean was the key for Collet. “I think was great a good race. We had a really good pace. I was able to get by Jacob in the beginning. I was just trying to push Louis into a mistake. Then I never got an opportunity. Clean race, no mistakes

Three Car Accident

Finally, James Roe qualified fifth and was running well before he was in a three car accident including Nolan Allaer and he finished 16th. He earned only 14 points in the race and has tumbled from his 8th place in the standings before the DGP.
