Tom Brady on the ejection of Brian Branch for Targeting
Take that for what it’s worth, but even commentator and former quarterback, Tom Brady, had an issue with the ejection. The 7-time Super Bowl champion didn’t like the hit, and agreed that it was a foul. But, he didn’t agree with the ejection.
“I don’t love that call at all. I mean obviously it’s a penalty. And to me, it has to be serious intent, in a game like this,” Brady said.
Dean Blandino- former head of NFL referees explains the ejection
FOX rules expert Dean Blandino explained the league’s position on the broadcast.
“We got clarification from the league office, and it’s not about intent,” Blandino said. “In their view, they felt Branch had opportunity to avoid (the contact). He lowered his head, led with the shoulder to the head and neck area. They felt he had that option and they felt it was flagrant, and that’s why they ultimately decided to eject.”
