Discussion: Which Lions’ star will take their game to the next level in 2025?

After a 2024 season that didn’t end the way they wanted, the Detroit Lions will need to elevate their game in 2025. Which player will take the biggest jump?

When you take away the Detroit Lions’ painful, gut-wrenching loss in the Divisional Round of the 2024 playoffs—there is still plenty to look back on in a positive light. For a team that completely reset expectations in 2023 when they came a half of football away from a Super Bowl appearance, the 2024 team,—despite a ton of injuries you’ve already heard about—had some magical moments, too.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff was an MVP finalist, and threw for 37 touchdowns and over 4,600 yards. All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had himself another monster year in his fourth season as a pro, racking up 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns as one of the focal points of the Lions offense.

Alongside St. Brown, receiver Jameson Williams had his breakout season in 2024 and reminded people why he was on track to be the first receiver taken in the 2022 NFL Draft prior to the injury in the National Championship game. Like during his time in Tuscaloosa, Williams was a big-play machine for Detroit, averaging over 17 yards per catch on his way to eight total touchdowns, and his first 1,000-yard season in the NFL.

And we surely can’t forget superstar running back and NFL touchdown king Jahmyr Gibbs. The second-year back had 1,929 yards from scrimmage to go along with 20 touchdowns on the year. I think everyone knew Gibbs was pretty special after a really strong rookie campaign, but 2024 was a whole different level for Sonic.

That brings us to today’s Question of the Day:

Which Lions’ star could take their game to a new level in 2025?

As crazy as this may sound after I just finished talking about how absurd his 2024 season was, I am going with Gibbs and for a few reasons.

First, I think the offensive line is due for a resurgence in 2025 after a season that likely didn’t measure up to their lofty expectations as a unit. Secondly, I love the hiring of Tashard Choice as running backs coach for the LionsGibbs has already talked about how highly he thinks of Choice as both a person and coach, and they get to keep Scottie Montgomery in the building by having him coach wide receivers.

So yes, I think Gibbs is due for another video game type season next season. Hopefully one that ends with a trip to The Bay in February.

How about you? Which Lions player do you think will take their game to a new level in 2025? Let us know in the comments below.
