ANN ARBOR – The Polo Fields Golf & Country Club has hosted a variety of Golf Association of Michigan tournaments in recent years, and for the second time in four years the top net players get their chance to enjoy the club’s modern links style golf course.

A field of 78 golfers with Handicap Indexes® 20.4 or lower will play 18 holes of stroke play for net scores on Monday to determine a low 16 golfers to fill out a match play bracket. The round of 16 matches and quarterfinals are on Tuesday, and the semifinal and final matches are on Wednesday.

The Polo Fields was designed by Ann Arbor’s own William Newcomb, an award-winning designer, and opened in 1995.

It is a private golf club with generous fairways, a variety of distinctive design features through the 18 holes and fast challenging greens. The course plays to a maximum of 6,828 yards and has multiple tee positions starting from 5,122 yards.

Jim Mrozinski is the PGA Professional Director of Golf and Chris Johnston is the Superintendent. Visit polofieldssccmi.com for more information.

Last year at Lakes of Taylor Golf Club, Wyandotte’s Jon Swint used a hot putter to win the title. He never trailed in the final match and beat Jerry Tranzow of Macomb, 5 and 4.

Swint is not defending, but five former champions are in the field, including 2023 champion Mike Magnotte of Clinton Township, Andrew Lang of Grosse Ile, the 2021 and ’22 champion, 2014 winner Mike Hayes of White Lake and 2013 champion Mike Piazza of Allen Park.
