NFL players are often expected to be recognized in public, but some fan encounters end up becoming stories of their own. A similar incident happened with the Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, turning an ordinary appearance into a round of laughs.
On Saturday, outside the Jahmyr Gibbs Youth Football Camp in Lansing, Gibbs was asked by a female interviewer to share his “craziest fan interaction.” Without missing a beat, he pointed to a man standing beside him and joked, “Him. He tried to kiss me.”
The incident happened right outside the Eastern Gilberto ‘Gil’ Sauceda Stadium, where Gibbs was spotted after the youth camp.
Gibbs hosted a Youth Camp in collaboration with FlexSports for kids between the ages of 6-16 years who are interested in becoming like Gibbs one day.
For Gibbs, it is a surreal experience where he is in the position of giving back to the community after hitting multiple milestones in his life.
“To be out here just trying to have fun with them and trying to make them enjoy the day,” said Gibbs. “Put smiles on their face.”
Gibbs is utilizing his offseason time away from the gridiron by training and inspiring the younger talent to become more physically fit and skilled when it comes to sports.
On Saturday, his day did not end there. In the evening, he went on to host another camp at Saginaw.
As Jahmyr Gibbs is headed for the 2026 NFL training camps, he achieved yet another endorsement in the latest PFF rankings.
Jahmyr Gibbs earns high praise in latest PFF rankings
The Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs received high praise in the latest edition of the “PFF Running Back Rankings: Assessing all 32 starters ahead of the 2026 NFL season” by Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick.
Among the 32 RBs, Gibbs was ranked No. 2, right after Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons.
“Gibbs is one of the most electric players in the league, both as a runner and receiver,” they wrote. “His 1,449 receiving yards since getting drafted in 2023 are third among all running backs, while his 39 rushing touchdowns in that span are second…”
Per Pro Football Reference, in the 2025 season, Gibbs appeared in all 17 games, where the dual-threat RB rushed for 1,223 yards and scored 13 TDs in 243 attempts.
His elite production has made him land the top spot in the PFF rankings. As the 2026 NFL season approaches, RB Jahmyr Gibbs is preparing to contribute his part in taking the Lions to the Lombardi Trophy.
