Todd KellyNick Stavas -Golfweek

The Fourth of July weekend has come to a close with a Brian Campbell victory at the John Deere Classic.

TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, was the host venue once again. A month ago, tournament officials announced a contract extension through 2030 with John Deere as title sponsor.

Brian Campbell wins John Deere Classic on first playoff hole

Campbell stuffed a great second shot while Grillo flew the green with his second. After a chip that came up short, Grillo putted from off the green but missed wide right. Campbell then had two putts to win and he did just that to claim his second PGA Tour win this season.Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle

“Right now it’s surreal. I don’t know what’s going on. But, yeah, it all started here as an amateur, my first invite here. I’ve loved it ever since,” Campbell said. “I have no words. I mean, to be let alone in a playoff and to finish it off this way, it’s just been amazing.”

Emiliano Grillo, Brian Campbell had same scores each day all week

It’s kind of amazing but each of the two John Deere Classic playoff participants shot matching scores of 65-66-68-67 each day.

It’ll be a two-man playoff at the John Deere Classic

Lipsky made his first eagle all week on the 17th hole Sunday to get to 18 under and tie for the lead. With Brian Campbell and Emiliano Grillo already signed for 18 under, the question is will there be a two-man or a three-man playoff?

After a pulled drive hard left, Lipsky needed three shots to get to the green and he faced a 15 footer for par to be the third member of the playoff. With Campbell watching on TV in the clubhouse, Lipsky’s putt tickled the edge but didn’t drop.

So it’ll be Campbell v. Grillo in a sudden-death playoff, the second week in a row for a playoff on the PGA Tour.

Brian Campbell leads 2025 John Deere Classic

Brian Campbell had five birdies on his first 13 holes and then overcame what could have been a disastrous double bogey on the par-4 15th with a birdie on 17. That got him to 18 under and in the solo lead in the final round. On the 18th hole, Campbell had a 30-footer for birdie but he couldn’t drain it. He parred the last to finish at 18 under, the new clubhouse leader.
