Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give has earned a reputation as a player friendly tournament because of the local community, and Meijer as players routinely say they pencil this tournament year-after-year.
Players talk about the tournament, and the fans.
Carlota Ciganda, first win on the LPGA Tour since 2016

How good does it feel? Do you remember that win back nine years ago, that feeling of winning? Was
it as good as you remember?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: For sure. I mean, winning is always very special. Yeah, it was in Mexico 2016. I
wanted to win in the U.S., and I think winning now against all these really good players, it’s very special. Yeah, just very happy, proud how I handled this week, staying present. Yeah, it’s been an amazing week.
Lexi is close again

So close again here at Meijer. Lots of positives to take from this week going into the major next week. What do you personally take from this? LEXI THOMPSON: “Yeah, for sure. That I had a good finish. Not the finish I wanted coming down the stretch there, but coming into the week I wasn’t playing great golf and kind of latched onto something that got me through the week and tried to stay positive with that. I had my bad shots out there that showed its face, but just happy how I stayed patient and positive out there and pushed through the week and just really enjoy being out here once again.”
Hye- Jin Choi- It’s about the fans

Q. Last question: Just talk about this community, Grand Rapids, and how nice it is seeing all these fans
out here.
HYE-JIN CHOI: (Through translation.) “I didn’t know there was lots of Korean people living in Grand Rapids but I met a lot of the them and they really supported me during the week. Because of them I really enjoyed playing this week and I really cheered up because of them. If I come next year I want to be better and show more good performance, yeah.”

Brooke Henderson on the Crowds
Talk about the crowds a little bit. Seems like each year they get better and better and it gets bigger and
bigger. How cool is that to see each year?
BROOKE HENDERSON: “For sure. The atmosphere here is so cool. It’s one of our best events on Tour. The fans are incredible early Thursday to late Sunday afternoon. There is so many fun activities for people to do from the Kids’ Zone to the great food and drinks at J Brewers. Just everybody is really happy and excited to be here.”
