Nick Pumford has paid his dues. He is a successful University of Michigan player playing under Chris Witten and played with a team of players who made it into the NCAA regional tournament multiple times as a player and coach. Pumford worked his way up starting as a Wolverines accomplished player, assistant coach and a person who knows how to build a Division I golf program. Pumford did not work under just any coach. He worked under UM coach and now PGA GAM President Chris Witten where Nick’s recruits saw success as All-Big Ten players, and represented the team in the NCAA tournament. Pumford’s OU Golden Grizzilies are now winning conference tournaments on two of Michigan’s great courses, Katke-Cousins and the Sharf where he is the Director of Golf.

In our interview below, we talk about the OU golf team, the type of players he tries to recruit, finding diamond in the rough players and the upcoming season. Nick also gives us his take on NIL, which is taking over the college landscape.

One of Pumford’s biggest accomplishments was mentoring two-time Michigan Open Jake Kneen who is now an assistant on Nick’s staff. OU players have received nearly two dozen All-American academic awards from the NCAA. Pumford’s complete OU profile is available by clicking this link. <<<
