The crash fest expected at Talladega did not play out in the ARCA or Xfinity races, but CUP drivers rarely play nice. That is ok for me. It was a weekend for Ford’s, Bobby Allison, Joey Logano, and Cleetus McFarland.

10. The Bobby Allison Ceremonial lap
The one lap ran by to remember Bobby Allison, who died recently was a highlight for me. The car shown below will be replaced by the actual car ran. (Picture not available at deadline).
9. Sitting in the Barney Hall Press Booth
Barney Hall is the Hall of Fame MRN Broadcaster who partnered with Ken Squier and others for decades and called his last race in 2014. Watching the CUP race in the seat where the Legend worked so many races was truly an honor. Here is the view he had to call a race at Daytona with the MRN gang.

8. Joey Logano inducted into Talladega Walk of Fame alongside NASCAR legends
7. SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERT JUSTIN MOORE
Pretty enthusiastic fans greeted Justin, Dillon and their bands.

6. It’s about family
Plenty of Alabama families went Alabama Gang and parents brought their children to the Jack’s Link 500 or the Saturday races. Hopefully, they did not go to…
5. The Talladega Boulevard

Sin City and Mardi Gras has nothing on this place. The debauchery will not be mentioned here. You have to see it for yourself.
4. A picture is worth… Just ask Carson Hocevar who went Woody from Toy Story to promote… Chili’s.
3. Cleetus McFarland finishes 10th in ARCA Race
McFarland came into the race hoping not to wreck the field. He asked Ricky Stenhouse Jr. while sitting in the press room with a tank top what the key is to a good finish? Stenhouse told the 6″6′ McFarland put your seat low. It must have worked.
2. A last lap wreck… Austin Hill wins Xfinity Race by .001
Austin Hill waited on the track along with Jesse Love and Jeb Burton to see who won a race interrupted by a last lap crash. Hill got the win, his first at Talladega. Hills victory gave him nine Superspeedway victories. How close was it? Hill won by .001 of a second.
1. Austin Cindric Rescues Ford
Ford Performance led 74-percent of the laps at Daytona and Atlanta, coming into Talladega. For most of the day, Ford, outside of Joey Logano struggled. That changed the second half of the final stage. Ford made moves and placed four of the top six drivers at the finis,h including Cindric and Ryan Preece, who finished second. Cindric only led seven laps on Sunday. The final seven.
