NASCAR drivers and team officials are candid this week going into New Hampshire with only two races to go in the Chase to decide the 16 driver to move on. A lot of topics and a lot of riffs.

Ryan Preece on his battle for the Chase with SVG

ARE YOU LOOKING AT THIS NOW AS YOU VERSUS SVG FOR THAT LAST SPOT? “Yeah, I would say that is the reality. Let’s be honest. You look at Penske last year too as well, they’re short track program was extremely strong, so I knew that going into Richmond that Austin was gonna be a contender, and I felt like they executed a great day and they did what they needed to do. Now for us, going into New Hampshire, I think the goal for me is to execute our day. We’re gonna need a little bit of luck on our side for him to not have quite the great day, and then that puts us heads-up going into Daytona. With the different superspeedway package, I don’t think any of us know what to expect, so I guess part of me is kind of wishing we didn’t change much because I felt like our superspeedway stuff has been strong. At the end of the day, I guess we’re all on a level playing field when we go into that one.

Connor Zilisch on the Double in the Future

Connor, does this make you less likely to do “The Double”, or are you still pursuing it?

Connor Zilisch: “Yeah, I mean, it’s something down the road that I’ve always dreamed of. But at the end of the day, I need to focus on what I’m doing on Sunday’s here before I really focus on stepping outside my comfort zone.”

Christopher Bell on the 8/18 Kyle Busch Tribute

“I think it’s an awesome remembrance and way to show he’s still on the top of all of our minds,” said Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell, who credits Busch with helping establish his own NASCAR career. “I think the industry has done really, really, good of not letting it just go. He had such a big impact on the whole industry. So, I’m glad they’re implementing it and I know it will go on for years to come and will be something we always cherish.”
