Notre Dame and Alabama are Day 1 Co-leaders


Michigan State Men’s Golf Tied for Fifth Place at the Folds of Honor Collegiate
This is the fourth annual Folds of Honor Collegiate for the men’s side. The tournament supports the Folds of Honor non-profit organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of US military service members and first responders who have fallen or been disabled while serving our country and communities.
There are six teams in the top-five all within five strokes of first place.
Alabama and Notre Dame are tied for the team lead at 1-over par 285, Kansas is third at 3-over par 287, Grand Valley State is fourth at 5-over par 289 and the Spartans are tied for fifth place with Florida State at 6-over par 290.
The Spartans have a pair of players among the top-10 individuals, led by junior Lorenzo Pinili, who is tied for fourth place at 1-under par 70. Pinili played the back nine in 3-under par 33, finishing his day overall with three birdies and 13 pars.
Senior Caleb Bond is tied for eighth place at even-par 70, finishing his round with four birdies and 10 pars. Junior McCoy Biagioli is tied for 32nd place at 3-over par 74.
Graduate Ashton McCulloch is tied for 39th place at 4-over par 75. After a double bogey on the par-4, 417-yard 8th hole on the front, McCulloch had eight-straight birdies before bogies on the final two holes of the day.
Junior Lucas Acevedo shot a 6-over par 77 and is tied for 55th place.
Michigan State tees off on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the 10th hole, playing alongside Notre Dame and Florida A&M.
