Women’s Golf Signs Three New Golden Grizzlies
- ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland Women’s Golf adds three new Golden Grizzlies to the lineup for the 2025-2026 campaign. Head Coach Heather Fortushniak brings in her first class at Oakland, looking to continue the storied success of the program in recent years.
Head Coach Heather Fortushniak spoke about this signing class stating, “I am excited and blessed to welcome Channing, Logan and Rachel to the Golden Grizzlies Family! I am really looking forward to watching them develop as players here at OU in the next four years!”
The newest Golden Grizzly to join the squad is Rachel Fay, from Petoskey, Michigan, and St. Catherine of Siena, who is a standout golfer with an impressive record of achievements. She earned Division 4 All-State First Team honors in 2022, 2023, and 2024, was a four-time All-Regional Team and All-Catholic League Team selection, and medaled in every high school event since 2022. Rachel is a two-time Oakland County Division 2 champion, a member of the 2023 and 2024 Oakland County Dream Team, and contributed to a Catholic League Championship victory in 2022. She chose Oakland University for its top-tier golf facilities, supportive team environment, and the opportunities offered through its renowned Honors College.

The next addition for the Golden Grizzlies is Logan Bentley, from Addison, MI, and Brooklyn Columbia Central High School, who is an accomplished golfer with seven years of experience. A three-time state runner-up, four-time conference champion, and three-time regional champion, Logan has earned All-State honors for three consecutive years. Highlights of his career include competing in the SGJI Tour in Scotland, qualifying for nationals in 2024, and earning a five-year exemption into the Tournament of Champions at Boyne Mountain. Set to study Business Administration or Marketing, Logan chose Oakland University for its welcoming atmosphere, outstanding programs, and abundant opportunities to launch his college career.

To round out the class, Channing Hagen, a Lexington, Kentucky native, joins Oakland Women’s Golf after a stellar golf career at Lexington Catholic High School. During her senior season, Channing achieved eight top-10 finishes, five top-3 finishes, a second-place finish, and a tournament victory. She earned First Team All-Region and Second Team All-State honors and won the Kentucky PGA Junior Championship before her high school season. Drawn to Oakland’s family-oriented environment, Channing plans to major in Journalism and Media Studies with a focus on Sports Broadcasting and Digital Media Practice. She is excited to continue her academic and athletic journey as a Golden Grizzly.
