Social workers to the rescue after an NFL player is shot in NY City. Spit shines from one NFL Pro Bowler to another, and a little NFL action in week 11 on this edition of They Said It.

It’s a lawless city

Former NFL player Jack Brewer on the shooting of Jets CB Kris Boyd.

“Teams invest millions into these athletes, they’ve got no business being around in the middle of the night in a lawless city.”

Brewer drew on his own experience playing for the New York Giants to express that he knows that danger lurks once the night gets later.

“I played for the New York Giants, and just like these Jets players, I was out in New York City late at night,” he added. “I’ve been in those clubs at 2 a.m. I know exactly what happens; fights, shootings, and chaos. You understand the environment before you even walk through the door.”

Bears win on last play of the game

Caleb Williams was brief after the game. “It was a hell of a win.”

Ja’Marr Chase and Jalen Ramsey

PITTSBURGH — Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey was ejected for throwing a punch at Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase after Chase appeared to spit at the safety with a little more than 12 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh’s 34-12 victory Sunday.

After the game, Ramsey was adamant Chase spit on him before he threw the punch. A field-level view captured by FOX 19 WXIX-TV shows spit coming out of Chase’s mouth just before Ramsey threw the punch.

“He spit on me,” Ramsey said. “I don’t give a f— about football after that, respectfully. I’m always going to be all for trash talking, s— talking, things like that. I actually enjoy that part of the game. I think that people know that. … We were talking s—, which I’m cool with. And then as soon as he spit, it was f— that. … I’m sure the NFL, they’ll do their due diligence. They’ve got 100 cameras out there. They can investigate. They can see everything. … They should be able to pull it up and see that he spit and it’s whatever after that, to be honest. I was still a little too nice if I’m keeping it honest with you.”

Lions Players break kneecaps for coach Dan Campbell

“He believes in us. We believe in him. He looks really big and strong, so like if he’s making decisions, it’s probably right,” Lions offensive lineman Graham Glasgow said. “But all jokes aside, I think that he’s a football guy and I feel like he has a good finger on the pulse for what we need to do. He’s a great coach.” Dan Campbell is handling the playcalling after Lions’ OC John Morton has proven to be ineffective at it.

Patrick Mahomes on Chiefs 5-5 Record

“I think we’re really talented,” Mahomes said in his postgame press conference. “We’ve got a lot of great players, but it’s about being more consistent. I think it starts with me. There’s times where I’m firing and we’re moving the ball down the field at ease. But there’s times where we go in spurts where I miss a throw like I did or a protection call or whatever that is. It’s about being more consistent, that’s what this league is. We haven’t been consistent enough to win games. It starts with me.”

“I thought he played defense like he did the whole game,” Campbell said of the play in question. “Played it like he played the very first rep that we played man to man, so I wouldn’t tell him to do anything different.”
