Power Rankings for THE PLAYERS Championship

RankPlayersComment
15Justin RoseJustin RoseENGEnglandContinues to be a man for the moment. After he challenged yet again at Pebble Beach with a T3, he, ahem, rose for a T8 at Bay Hill. This marks his 20th start in THE PLAYERS. His most recent of six top 25s was a T6 in 2023.
14Brian HarmanBrian HarmanUSAUnited States of AmericaGiven that he has a pair of podium finishes among four top 10s at TPC Sawgrass, both within the last four editions, he’s earned the faith. Gliding along in 2025 with three top 25s on the shoulders of a dynamite approach game.
13Michael KimMichael KimUSAUnited States of AmericaMake room for this guy because he’s licking his chops. In his last five starts, he’s finished second, T13, T13, T6 and fourth. He’s done it with a level of tee-to-green proficiency that TPC Sawgrass demands … and rewards.
12Aaron RaiAaron RaiENGEnglandAmong the archetypes suited best for the test of TPC Sawgrass. While his reputation as a world-class ball-striker precedes him, he can hang with the putter nicely. Form is strong, too, with a T4 in Mexico and a T11 at Bay Hill.
11Daniel BergerDaniel BergerUSAUnited States of AmericaThe 31-year-old has methodically climbed back into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking (42nd) with a T2 among five top 25s in 2025. Hasn’t played TPC Sawgrass since 2022 when he placed T13. Also has a pair of T9s.
10Jason DayJason DayAUSAustraliaThe 2016 champ has a total of four top 10s and a pair of T19s in 13 trips. His recent elevated consistency is equally as impressive. Two top 10s and a T13 in six starts this year. Fresh off a T8 and vintage putting at Bay Hill.
9Corey ConnersCorey ConnersCANCanadaIt took him five months to bag his first top 10 last year, but he rallied for four of them in official action. No such delay in 2025 as he already has two top fives. Solo third at Bay Hill. Two top 15s at TPC Sawgrass.
8Russell HenleyRussell HenleyUSAUnited States of AmericaAttempting to replicate what Scottie Scheffler accomplished last year in winning at Bay Hill and TPC Sawgrass in consecutive weeks. Henley is in his 12th start and still in pursuit of his first top 10, but he’s on fire now.
7Shane LowryShane LowryIRLIrelandLed the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the midpoint before losing the grip to finish seventh. One untimely score (third-round 76) doesn’t reflect his momentum. He’s also 4-for-4 at TPC Sawgrass with three top 20s since 2021.
6Ludvig ÅbergLudvig ÅbergSWESwedenA third-round 77 at Bay Hill thwarted a run but he rebounded with a 68 on Sunday to finish T22. In his PLAYERS debut last year, he led the field in distance of all drives and ranked third in proximity en route to a solo eighth.
5Hideki MatsuyamaHideki MatsuyamaJPNJapanPossesses all of the attributes to tame TPC Sawgrass, and he has multiple times with four top 10s and another trio of top 25s. Consistently strong throughout 2025 during which he’s 7-for-7 with a win among five top 25s.
4Collin MorikawaCollin MorikawaUSAUnited States of AmericaHe has been pushing, pounding and kicking at the door to swing open again for 11 months, so it’s just a matter of time when it acquiesces. Two runner-up finishes in 2025 alone. Tops on TOUR in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.
3Rory McIlroyRory McIlroyNIRNorthern IrelandExhibit A of how TPC Sawgrass punishes more than it pleases. He captured the victory here in 2019 but it’s one of only two top-30 finishes in his last seven appearances. Expect something special as he arrives with terrific form.
2Scottie SchefflerScottie SchefflerUSAUnited States of AmericaThe only two-time defending champion in tournament history is without a victory in 2025, but he’s been in the mix as usual. Struck it wonderfully at Bay Hill but struggled with the putter and still cobbled together a T11.
1Sepp StrakaSepp StrakaAUTAustriaIf anyone is going to upset Scottie Scheffler, it might as well be FedExCup points leader. Straka has been a beast with a win among three top 10s and six top 15s in 2025. Balanced throughout his bag. Two top 15s here.
