Watching it in person is bad enough. Watching it for TV replays is like rubbing salt in the wounds. Then reading about the Europeans retelling you what you just observed hurts even worse. Here are there words.
Tyrell Hatton and Jon Rahm

Q. Unbeaten in five matches together. Just describe
the trust that you have got as a partnership when you
are going into battle down the back nine like that.
TYRRELL HATTON: Well, he’s certainly a good partner to
play with. He pulls out some unbelievable shots at very
special times. Yeah, he’s an incredible player, and a good
person to walk the fairways with.
Q. Speaking of miraculous shots, we’ve got to talk
about that chip-in on 8, it was otherworldly for the
mere mortals, talk us through that shot from your
perspective.
JON RAHM: The only benefit to the whole situation is that
they were off the green, as well. So I could afford to be
aggressive and hopefully leave him a decent putt. I was
honestly just trying to putt it on the green, right.
Hopefully hit it somewhere online, somewhere with the
right distance, and it came out absolutely perfect. It’s a bit
of luck involved but at least the ball was lying well and got
really decent contact on it.
Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy

Well, it took a couple extra holes perhaps than you
would have liked but another foursomes win for
Fleetwood Mac. What is it about this partnership that
gels so well in foursomes?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: It’s Rory McIlroy. I can play from
a lot of the places where he hits it.
Yeah, we loved getting the chance to play together in
Rome. Our games match nicely. Obviously we’re very
close off the course. Like Rory has already said, our
families are so close. I’m just the
lucky one that gets to
play with him in foursomes and I’ll take that, anyway.
Q. You spoke about how hard it is to win in an away
Ryder Cup and we’ve witness what had an away crowd
is like, you particularly, how strong do you have to be
mentally out here?
RORY McILROY: Yeah, you do. You really just have to
focus on the task at hand. I think in the team format,
foursomes, four-ball, you can stick together with your
partner and it makes it a little bit easier.
And yeah, you know, look, what Tommy just said, the
feeling is absolutely mutual. It’s an absolute pleasure to
play alongside him and we had a great time in Rome and
we’ve been able to back that up with two great wins here.
Excited with where our team is and we have to keep the
foot down.
