Lions fans believe the team is going to the Super Bowl. Until the Buffalo game, I thought the same thing. But a nagging thought has been tugging at me. The Lions have been decimated on the defensive side of the ball with players going to the IR and players off the street and other teams practice squads replacing them. Encouragement from many came when Josh Paschal, DJ Reader and Levi Onwuzurike returning to the lineup. When Carlton Davis III, Josh Paschal, Khalil Dorsey, and David Montgomery were lost for the season, the Lions are in real trouble as the players that have went down include seven starters and several key role or special teams players. Detroit might get back Aiden Hutchinson for a Super Bowl game. Alex Anzalone is questionable for a playoff run and Carlton Davis III is the same. All teams have injuries this time of year, but Detroit can no longer stop teams the way they did earlier in the season. If Jamhyr Gibbs or Jared Goff go down, do you still feel like a Super Bowl run is possible? With Philadelphia (12-2) and Minnesota (12-2) with the same record as Detroit, the Lions will have their hands full trying to keep NFC homefield for the playoffs and might have to play on the road the opening wild card weekend. If you think I am being harsh, lets, read below.
Jason Garrett on the 48-42 loss to Buffalo: “Detroit has been so good all year long and their offense has been dominant, but we’ve seen the injuries on defense and they’re just thinning out more and more. There were some gaudy numbers for [Jared] Goff, they came back and the score looked okay, but Buffalo dominated this game. There are real question marks for Detroit on the defensive side.”
The buzz around Josh Allen just keeps getting louder, and Colin Cowherd has officially joined the chorus. After the Buffalo Bills’ thrilling 48-42 victory over the Detroit Lions, which improved their record to 11-3, Cowherd didn’t hold back in his praise for the Bills’ superstar quarterback.
“Josh Allen is the Most Talented QB I’ve Ever Seen”
Cowherd kicked off his take with a bold statement: “Josh Allen is the most talented quarterback I’ve ever seen. I’ll die on that hill.” That’s no small compliment from someone who has seen plenty of all-time greats.
Caleb Williams and Justin Jefferson hug it out
“I got love for you, dawg,” Jefferson said, pulling Williams in close. “You a killa, boy.”
The two then appeared to agree to a jersey swap following just their second ever NFL matchup.
Its been a tough rookie year for Caleb Williams and his 18-31 showing on MNF for 191 yards and a TD were respectable for the freshman NFL player. Justin Williams had 7 catches for 73 yards and a TD catch in the game.
