Women’s Golf: The ACC shows SEC and Big Ten who’s boss at the Landfall Tradition

With the fall college golf season winding down, the Big Ten women sent four teams plus Notre Dame and watched ACC teams sweep the podium at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, NC. Conditions were pretty tough as all teams were above par on the final day and only Florida State and Duke were under after three days of competition.

Big Ten Teams and Notre Dame

Among Big Ten teams, Michigan State played to +14 on the final day but led all B1G teams after shooting four under after two days of competition to finished tied for 7th with Clemson. Maryland was second among B1G Teams at +26 (10th) and Notre Dame (Ind) was T-13th along with Illinois. Penn State was in 16th place, +61 as a team.

MSU and Illinois Women Individual State

ACC teams dominated most of the team stats on the par 3-4-5’s on the CC of Landfall Pete Dye Course. MSU lead all teams in shooting par but the final day went away from MSU. Notre Dame led all teams in shooting par with 182 as a team. MSU slipped to 8th. The ACC swept the podium the par three’s (Duke), par- 4 NC State, and Florida State on the par fives.

This finale fall tournament is a great showcase for all of the teams to show where they are at before play picks up after the new year in warmer climates.
