Notre Dame head golf coach John Handrigan is in his ninth season at the helm of the Fighting Irish golf program. Good programs build themselves into winners. Great programs do that and then reload each season. Handrigan’s program is doing just that. In five 2025 fall tournaments, the team has had five Top-5 finishes, including a team victory shooting (-35) to take the top team title at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational. The Fighting Irish are producing Korn Ferry and PGA Tour players, and Jake Modleski has been on the winning 2025 US Walker Cup and had a top finish at the 2024 US Amateur. The scorecard from the final day of the 2025 Canadian tournament shows the depth of the team. Nate Stevens and Calen Sanderson have also been medalists in a season tournament and the rest of the roster shows the depth of the team. Coming on board, Handrigan has went to the land down under adding Chase Oberle of Breakwater, Queensland, to their incoming class for 2026-27. The Australia native is set to join the Irish as a freshman next year.
Oberle is the back-to-back champion of the Queensland Junior Amateur Championship and was twice named the Queensland Junior Male Amateur Golfer of the Year.
