Daytona Beach, Fla. — Jimmie Johnson knew in 2020, he had a soft retirement. He knew the last few years as an active NASCAR driver his time was winding down. Covid in 2020 did not give him the retirement send off he wanted as he wanted to make the announcement and share it with his Hendrick Motorsports fans and Ally, his chief sponsor. After a two-year run in Indy Car and a personal tragedy, he needed perspective. Now he has it and this is his final Daytona 500 with only a street race to go before switching off the ignition for good. Jimmie talks about his role as a name and face in NASCAR going forward and bucket list racing opportunities.
