Notre Dame 2nd, Ohio State/Northwestern T-6, MSU 8th at American Dunes
Grand Haven, Mich. — Michigan State’s men’s golf team shot an 8-over par 292 on Tuesday and stands in a tie for eighth place among 14 teams after the second round of play at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, being played at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven.
The Folds of Honor Collegiate, an idea created by MSU men’s golf Head Coach Casey Lubahn and Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, a former Kansas golfer who founded the Folds of Honor, was started five years ago as a men’s tournament and this is the second year with a women’s field. Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded nearly 73,000 scholarships totaling more than $340 million to the children of US Military members and first responders fallen or wounded in the line of duty.
Georgia Tech leads the field at 12-under par 556 (272-284), one shot ahead of both Notre Dame (280-277) and Texas (285-272), who are tied for second place at 1-over par 557.
Alabama is in fourth place at 7-over par 563 (284-279) and Cincinnati rounds out the top-five teams.
The Spartans, who were in second place after round one, are tied for eighth place with Kansas at 3-over par 571 (279-292)
Junior Julian Menser leads the way for the Spartans, shooting a 1-under par 141 (68-73) to tie for 13th place. He had a 2-over par 73 on Tuesday morning.
Senior McCoy Biagioli is one shot back at even-par 142 (69-73) and is tied for 18th place.
Senior Lucas Acevedo had the team’s best round of the day with an even-par 71 and is tied for 34th place at 3-over par 145 (74-71).
Sophomore Luke Mueller shot a 4-over par 75 on Tuesday and is tied for 40th place at 4-over par 146 (71-75) and senior Lorenzo Pinili place at 5-over par 147 (71-76)
Playing as an individual, freshman Louis Goodman is in 73rd place at 16-over par 158 (80-78).
There are 22 different colleges and universities representing the 27 teams (15 men, 12 women) in the combined field. The field includes some of the best golf programs in the country, including eight ranked among the top-30 in the country in preseason polls, as well as Service Academies, a Division II team on each side and a men’s and women’s HBCU (Historically Black Colleges & Universities).
Live television coverage of the tournament can be seen on The Golf Channel, with daily broadcasts from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Rebroadcasts of the competition will also be aired. Last year’s Collegiate reached nearly one million viewers across 12 live & replay telecasts, one of the largest unique audiences for an NCAA golf tournament on Golf Channel in 2025.
