The MSU Spartans only played an exhibition game last week, but it was good enough to move from second to first in the USCHO polls. The Big Ten (B1G) placed four teams in the top 12 including Minnesota at (3) and Michigan at (6). In all, six of seven B1G teams are mentioned in the polls with only Wisconsin looking at the outside in.

The CCHA has only one team in the top 20 as Minnesota State is hanging in at No. 17. The NCHC has several teams in the polls. Denver loses the top spot at number two after losing a weekend game. Western Michigan is ranked 7th (see additional story below) and St. Cloud St. (9th) North Dakota and Arizona all have places in the Top 20.

Others receiving votes: Union 38, Massachusetts 29, Bentley 22, Harvard 20, Connecticut 19, Notre Dame 11, Penn State 10, Northeastern 7, Bemidji State 5, Michigan Tech 5, New Hampshire 5, Colgate 2, Niagara 1

Western Michigan is at No. 7

BRONCOS CONTINUE TO RISE IN NATIONAL POLLS

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Thanks to a sweep of Minnesota Duluth this past weekend, Western Michigan continued to rise in the latest national polls.

The Broncos jumped up two spots to No. 7 in both the USCHO poll and USA Hockey/The Rink Live poll. WMU leaped over Colorado College and Cornell in both rankings. Western Michigan has been ranked nationally since Oct. 11, 2021.

Joining the Brown and Gold in the national polls were Denver, Colorado College, St. Cloud State, North Dakota and Arizona State. The Broncos are undefeated in conference play through six games, sitting with a 5-0-1 record.

WMU will hit the ice for a top-seven battle this weekend, as No. 6 Michigan is next up on the schedule. The Broncos and Wolverines will play a home-and-home series, beginning on Nov. 29 at Lawson Arena. We will be at Western Michigan on Friday to cover this matchup.
